What Did We Learn About The Steelers Offense The First Quarter Of The Season

By Barb Layton

Offensive MVP: Ben Roethlisberger He was looking almost unstoppable. He would have been even greater when Martavis comes back. He was throwing the deep ball better than ever before. He was patient and not rushing his throws. Ben was taking what was there instead of trying to be the hero.

Honorable Mention: Antonio Brown and DeAngelo Williams Everyone knows how great Antonio is. He can be better than any Steeler receiver and possibly one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game. DeAngelo Williams proved he was able to play at a high level. He showed the Panthers that he still had something to offer. He will help the Steelers the rest of the way to win.

Biggest Disappointment: Josh Scobee He was inept and left something to be desired. It is very possible if he had made those field goals and extra points that we would not be 2-2 but 4-0. He made 3 of 7. Some of the ones he made was just a fluke. He was either very bad or we were spoiled by Shaun Suisham. Could have been a little of both. Hopefully with Scobee gone our kicking game will be much better.

Biggest Improvement: Darrius Heyward-Bey  Darrius had 3 catches all of last year and no touchdowns. This year he is making catches. This year he as 15 receptions and 2 TDs. He has shown that he deserves to be playing each and every game. It is nice to see him playing up to his potential. With Martavis back he will still be an important part of the mix.

Surprising stat: Sammie Coates I was surprised that he was in the game already. He was given the opportunity due to injuries and suspension of Martavis. I had hoped that he would have been given the time to mature like Martavis was given last year. I hope that he will continue to grow and be a great receiver for the Steelers.
